Community Programs for Our Aphasia Group
TalkSpot Members visited The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. We enjoyed lunch together at “Junior’s” in Grand Central Station, followed by a private guided tour of several masterpieces in the museum collection by Picasso, van Gogh and Monet. Many thanks to The National Aphasia Association and The Museum of Modern Art for collaborating to make this program possible for all aphasia groups.
New England Air Museum
TalkSpot members and friends visited The New England Air Museum in Hartford. One of our members had flown F-100s in the VietNam War, and he acted as our tour guide on this fun morning. We were joined by graduate student Laura Ballan from Connecticut State University. We learned about the tragic flight of Amelia Earhart, saw a computer used in the 1940s for target determination and even got a behind-the-scenes look at a B-29.
We also heard a lecture at The Westport Senior Center on “Air War over Britain” given by Art Gottlieb, LCSW, CSA. It was an informative talk that we will discuss further on one of our Fridays at The TalkSpot.
Our member, Lynda Kerin, with the support of our Director, Marion Leaman, entered 4 of her photos taken our photography class in an Amateur Photo Show sponsored by the Y’s Men’s Camera Club and The Center for Senior Activities.
The exhibit opening and reception was at The Center for Senior Activities, (21 Imperial Avenue, Westport, CT).
